ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Friday that increase in energy demand was the manifestation of enhanced economic activities in the country.
He said that the government was taking measures to bridge the demand and supply gap of power. He said many foreign companies were interested in investing in power sector in Pakistan due to the government’s investor friendly policies.
The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Water and Power, who called on him at the PM House.
Gilani asked the Minister to devise methods to explore alternate energy sources to meet the future energy needs. He stressed the need to consult respective organizations of the developed countries to share their experiences.
He stressed for formulating policies to augment public private partnership and improved investment in energy sector.
The Prime Minister asked the Minister to take all stakeholders on board to finalize load management plan for this summer.
Referring to the compensation money to be paid to the affected in the Diamer-Bhasha area, he asked the Minister to look into the matter and resolve the issue amicably in consultation with stakeholders from Chillas and Diamer.
Syed Naveed Qamar apprised the Prime Minister about various projects initiated by the Ministry. He also discussed with him the ongoing schemes in his constituency.
