SC adjourns HEC devolution case till Tuesday

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan while hearing the constitutional petition against the devolution Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Monday issued notices to Attorney General of Pakistan, Ministry of Law, Ministry of Education and HEC and later adjourned the hearing till Tuesday, Geo News reported.

A three-judge bench, headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the petition filed by the Directory of Riphah University against the devolution of HEC.

The apex court after hearing the arguments of Advocate Anwar Mansoor and issuing notice to the stakeholders adjourned the hearing till Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the SC also adrouned till Tuesday the hearing of the review petition of the Government on the court’s verdict of declaring null and void the decision of the parliamentary committee of denying one-year extension in service to six additional judges of Lahore High Court and Sindh High Court.
