 ISLAMABAD: Chairman Higher Education Commission Javed Leghari Wednesday called for establishing Higher Education Councils in provinces instead of devolution of Higher Education Commission.Javed Leghari said that division in HEC would destroy the education system of the country. He said that Universities of Islamabad will be handed over to Capital Territorial Department, scholarships will be managed by ministry of inter-provincial relations, foreign office would take care of students’ affairs while issues of degrees would be handled by cabinet division. He said that HEC should not be devolved, adding that Higher Education Councils should be established in the provinces which would work with Higher Education Commission. |
